The Design Release, Exhibition of the Month
The Design Release names Evolving Forms its Exhibition of the Month, calling St Vincents its favourite Antwerp gallery crediting Studio Goons' first solo show.
The Design Release names Evolving Forms its Exhibition of the Month, describing St Vincents as its favourite Antwerp gallery and the show as the first solo exhibition by Studio Goons.
The entry introduces Mia Kim as a fashion designer and creative director formerly of Hermes and Chanel, and Paul Trussler as an architect who worked alongside Frank Gehry as a maquette maker before leading his own practice. It places plywood at the centre of the process and describes the studio exploring its potential through volume and utility, with each piece shaped as much by the practical demands of family life as by design training.
The selection runs in an issue given over to whether the fashion industry's new interest in collectible design is good for it, which is the argument the newsletter makes across the January letter.
The show also runs on The Design Release events calendar, listed at St Vincents on the Kleine Markt in Antwerp, carrying the gallery's own introduction to the work in birch plywood.
