Five Points Table (Medium)
The Five Points Table (medium) is a dining table for six to eight, designed for the solo exhibition Evolving Forms at St Vincents in Antwerp.
It belongs to a modular dining ensemble of three tables, a console and two dining tables, configurable in nine distinct arrangements to accommodate shifting uses and environments, from dining and work to play. The medium is the size most rooms actually need, and the one we have in our own home and studio.
The name refers to Le Corbusier’s Five Points of Modern Architecture, published in 1927 and built at Villa Savoye. The two we took from are the free plan and the pilotis. Lifting a building onto pilotis separated structure from enclosure and released the plan from the position of its walls. Translated to a table, the supports are placed by where the load travels and where people sit, not by symmetry.
Hand-built and hand-finished in our atelier in Paris. The plywood edge stays exposed at every cut. Most studios would cover those laminations with a veneer. We keep them visible because it is the more honest account of how the piece is built.
The Five Points Table is also made in a large size, and a custom version was produced for St Vincents. The Five Points Console completes the ensemble.
Studio Goons is a Paris-based collectible furniture and design atelier founded in 2020 by architect Paul Trussler and designer Mia Kim. Every piece is made to order, signed and numbered.
