Brace Chair AC
The Brace Chair AC is the cushioned armchair in the Brace family by Studio Goons, combining the extended structural arms of the Brace Chair A with seat cushions in pure Italian wool.
The cushion is deliberate. Upholstering the seat would have meant building a frame to carry it, and a frame would have hidden the bracing that the whole family exists to express. Instead the cushion is attached to the structure. That decision keeps two things true at once. The chair is comfortable enough for a long dinner, and the shear wall logic underneath remains completely legible. Comfort is introduced without softening the structure. The wool is pure Italian, available in a range of colours, and specified per commission.
The Brace family also includes the Brace Chair, the Brace Chair A, the Brace Bench and the Brace Stool.
Studio Goons is a Paris-based collectible furniture and design atelier founded in 2020 by architect Paul Trussler and designer Mia Kim. Mia worked as a designer and creative editor at Hermes and Chanel before the studio, and material selection of this kind comes directly out of that. Every work is made to order and hand-built by us in Paris, signed and numbered.
The Brace Chair AC was designed for Evolving Forms, our first solo exhibition, held at St Vincents gallery in Antwerp. St Vincents occupies a converted 1700s printing house and was founded in 2016 by Henri Delbarre and Geraldine Jackman.
The cushions are upholstered in pure Italian wool, and alternative colour options are available on request.
