Form Stool
The Form Stool is the smallest piece in Studio Goons’ Form series. designed as part of the Form series and built like a sculpture with no visible fasteners.
It developed from our early material research and spatial studies, alongside a series of iterative drawings. The question was how multiple legs behave when they meet a softened rectilinear plane. The composition combines defined column like supports with a rounded seat and aggregated massing. A clustered leg configuration forms a concentrated base, which gives the stool visual weight at the floor and keeps it stable without widening the footprint.
No fasteners are visible anywhere on the piece. Six elements meet, and how they connect is not offered to the viewer. That is a different position from most of our work, where the joint is not hidden, and it was taken because the Form series is about mass rather than assembly.
The whitewashed finish unifies the surface without obscuring the grain, so the texture and history of the reclaimed timber stay legible. Covering that would be dishonest. The balance between geometry and curvature is what defines the piece: measured, grounded, and architecturally resolved. It works as seating, as a bedside table, or as a side table. The Form Entry Table extends the same formal system at a taller scale.
