Form Entry Table
The Form Entry Table is a tall entry table by Studio Goons, designed as part of the Form series and built like a sculpture with no visible fasteners.
It came out of internal material studies rather than a commission. We were working through a series of drawings alongside reclaimed architectural timber, testing what happens when rectilinear discipline meets material that arrives in dimensions we did not choose. The composition holds both readings. Rectilinear planes and angular edges are set against a softened tabletop and rounded aggregate massing. Neither takes over, which is the result we were after.
The base is a cluster of legs rather than four separate supports. Concentrating them reinforces stability and gives the piece sculptural weight at the floor, so the table reads as grounded rather than perched. The legs carry the plane and nothing about how they do it is shown. The whitewashed finish unifies the surface while leaving the grain visible. That matters with reclaimed timber, which carries a history that covering would erase.
It was drawn as a first object. An entry table is the piece you meet before you meet the room, usually at close range and usually while your attention is elsewhere. It has to hold up under that reading without demanding it. The Form Stool extends the same formal language at a reduced height.
