Corner Table
The Corner Table is a small side table by Studio Goons, drawn so that it reads correctly from the positions a side table is actually seen from.
It came out of an experiment rather than a brief. While working through a series of benches we became more interested in modifying the underlying system than in producing more benches. So we ran the variations: angled edges, sloped edges, rounded corners, new joint intersections. The Corner Table is what survived that testing. It carries only the elements that held up, which is why it reads as resolved rather than exploratory. Everything that did not work was removed rather than refined.
Its asymmetry is the point. A side table is almost never seen in the round. It sits against a wall, in a corner, or beside a low chair, and it is read from two or three fixed angles. Drawing it symmetrically would have been the easier decision and the wrong one. The asymmetry here is intention, not compromise.
The leg geometry is shared with the Single Bench, the Double Bench, the Standard Console and the Striped Console. Seen next to them, the Corner Table is the same structural idea. Complexity is a warning for us and simplicity is confirmation.
Studio Goons is a Paris-based collectible furniture and design atelier founded in 2020 by architect Paul Trussler and designer Mia Kim.
