Standard Console
The Standard Console by Studio Goons carries on the design language of the studio’s foundational zigzag legs. It is the clearest single example of how we build.
This was one of the first pieces we made to be sold, and the decisions taken here still govern the full catalog. By building this language, we built Goons.
The design is one horizontal plane on two angular zigzag supports. No apron, no stretcher, no visible fasteners. The leg does all the bracing through its geometry alone. The depth is deliberately narrow. A console holds a surface against a wall without taking floor from a room, and the section is set by that requirement rather than by storage.
It takes custom dimensions better than anything else we make, and most of the consoles that leave the studio are drawn to a specific space. We have built this form from under a metre to nearly three, in stripes, and to client depths, and the geometry holds at every one.
Sister designs in the same structural family: Single Bench (petit), Double Bench, Striped Bench, Striped Console and Corner Table. The Striped Console is this form carrying our hand-scored striping.
