Single Bench (Petit)
The Single Bench (petit) is the smallest bench in Studio Goons’ foundation family, reducing the Double Bench to a single seat.
It is among the earliest works we produced and remains a reference point in the collection. The structural system worked out here is the one that still runs through most of what we make. The composition is reduced to a horizontal seat carried on angular zigzag legs. The supports operate as structure and as drawing at the same time, setting up a measured rhythm between stability and movement. There is no stretcher and no apron. The angle does the bracing.
The proportions are disciplined, which is what lets the bench hold presence at a small size. Conceived for a single occupant, that restraint is exactly what makes it adaptable. It works at a threshold, in an entry, at the foot of a bed, against a wall, or pulled up to a table.
It is the second piece the studio made. The Original Stool came first, then this bench, then the End Table Chair, the Standard Console and the Double Bench. Those five forms set the vocabulary the collection still works within.
The frame is simple and adaptable, and it lends itself to custom dimensions.
