M Console Table
The M Console by Studio Goons is an elevation of our production process.
Like the MM Stool, it responds to the intermediary step of furniture construction. Material is cut, then stacked in the workshop while it waits, and the stack makes an incidental repeating geometry. We built a series that keeps that geometry rather than discarding it.
The console holds two angles against each other. The top is assembled with stacked 45 degree cut surfaces. The legs are at 90. That contrast is the piece: the process expressed above, the structure rigid and architectural below.
Reading it as a letter came after the fact, but it explains why the form holds. An M is a single stroke that goes up, down, up and down again without lifting. The console does the same thing.
It is one of our most commissioned forms, and it has been built at lengths from 120 to 180 cm for projects with Gallery Jag, Philia, Monde Singulier and private clients. The M Console and the MM Stool together form the M Capsule, a group built entirely around our own studio process. Compare it to the Standard Console, which resolves the same typology through leg geometry rather than through surface.
