J Arm Chair
The J Arm Chair explores how a few intersecting planes can create both structure and enclosure.
The seat, back and extended arms form a precise architectural silhouette, giving the chair the presence of a sculptural armchair.
Its base is composed of a solid vertical volume. It grounds the piece and hides the connection details between top and base, allowing the form to remain clean and uninterrupted. Everything that holds the chair up sits inside the solid base.
That is the opposite decision to the Flat Pack Chair, where the joints are exposed and the assembly is the subject. Both are correct within their own rules.
In line with our approach, the J Arm Chair sits between architecture, furniture and sculpture.
Made in birch plywood and hand-finished in our atelier in Paris. Size and finish are customisable, and the chair is made to order.
Studio Goons is a Paris-based collectible furniture and design atelier founded in 2020 by architect Paul Trussler and designer Mia Kim. Paul spent five years with Frank Gehry in Los Angeles working on museums, cultural buildings and private residences, four years with his own firm Pentagon and five years with Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects in Paris. Mia worked as a designer and creative editor at Hermès and Chanel. Every piece is designed, prototyped and hand-built by us, signed and numbered.
