Milk Decoration, Art Rocker and Entry Column in Marika Dru's Tableau vivant

Milk Decoration publishes Tableau vivant in issue 54, the December 2024 and January 2025 edition, in its Tribu section. The interior architect Marika Dru of Atelier MKD has reworked a 120 square metre apartment on avenue du President-Wilson, directly opposite the Musee d'Art moderne de Paris, as a pied-a-terre for an owner who collects art.

Dru took the Art Deco facade of the Palais de Tokyo, built by Jean-Claude Dondel and Andre Aubert for the 1937 Exposition internationale, as the starting point. She describes the windows imposing themselves as paintings and setting a rhythmic, rigorous architectural language, which is why the living rooms face the museum and the private rooms face the courtyard. She looks, she says, for harmony in simplicity, and for noble and timeless materials that feel as though they have always been there.

The Art Rocker and the Entry Column appear in the apartment. The rooms around them hold Jean-Michel Frank furniture, tribal art from Galerie Lucas Ratton, a Pierre Chareau Curule stool through Ecart International, stoneware from Galerie Stimmung, tableware by Sophie Lou Jacobsen, an Aldo Rossi cafetiere for Alessi, a wood sculpture by Ryosuke Yazaki and a work by Camilla Reyman, both from Galerie JAG, and collages by Lia Rochas-Paris from Galerie Romain Morandi.
