Milk Decoration n11, a Paris apartment by Louis Denavaut

Milk Decoration profiles the interior architect and designer Louis Denavaut in the Revelations section of its Decorateurs hors-serie, issue 11, October 2021, across pages 61 to 65. Denavaut trained at the Ecole Camondo and works across private residences, offices and furniture.

The feature centres on his renovation of an apartment on rue d'Argenteuil in Paris, two buildings joined together and rebuilt over two years beneath the Paris rooftops. He describes the result as bourgeois codes simplified as far as they will go, without ornament, in the spirit of Le Corbusier in a smart Paris quarter in 2021.

A steel and glass mezzanine in the manner of a 1980s New York loft was inserted, which also solved a structural problem in the courtyard facades, large openings were made for the light, and a rounded window was recovered by scraping back the walls.

The End Table Chair and the Original Stool furnish the glass mezzanine, credited to Galerie JAG and set alongside a wooden wall light by Hans-Agne Jakobsson. Elsewhere in the apartment are ceramic vases by Olivia Cognet, a bespoke console and banquette, and Denavaut's own Ring pendant.
